finished " project will be great. However, I'm having a brain meltdown or
something and need help. I thought that Dick lived out here in the
Northwest, and yet he seems to belong to a club back East. Am I confusing
Dick with someone else, or just losing it? : ^ ("
Dick Karnes is a charter member of the Delaware Valley S Gaugers. An S gauge
club that back in the sixties featured such notables as Frank Titman, John
and Hal Bortz, Wally Collins, Lee Johnson, Bob Christ, Elwood Whitworth,
Merton Smith, Cliff Brown, Matt Lacko, Bert Mahr, Cy and Jay Behrens and
many more. [I apologize for those I've missed.]
The DVSG changed its name over to the Lehigh Valley S Gaugers about June
1991, the DVSG club was most likely started in 1961, but we are not sure of
an exact date.
We are proud of what our club members have accomplished in keeping S Gauge
alive over its 40 some years of existence, especially during the dark years
immediately following the closing down of AC Gilberts American Flyer. to
mention a few, The S Gauge Herald [Wally Collins/Frank Titman] in
particular, and also Frank Titman's Lehigh Valley Models.
Every once in a while the old timers get together and tell stories and they
are really funny, like the time Dick had a door slammed on him! Or all the
beatings Frank has had on his last name! Bob Christ was a real riot, and so
on, and on!
