Hi David;

NH bought Alco FA-1 and FB-1 units in ABA sets. Some time later the 
railroad wanted more B units to make ABBA sets, but Alco had moved 
on to the FA-2 series. So NH bought FB-2s (but no FA-2s, they were 
not in the market for A units).

They also modifed a pair of DL-109 A units to work as Bs, not having 
ever bought a passenger B unit of any sort. One of these modified DL-
109s got a most unfortunate "nose job" to provide a covered 
connection through the nose to the adjacent unit.
