from a posting on the Otrains group site, i thought that my responce
to a posting might be of some interest to the S scale group. a comment
was made that the HO guys think that the sergent coupler is a p.i.t.a.
(pain in the a**) those of us who model in P48 are a minority and my
responce to the original posting is a result of this. some times i
think tha S would have been the way to go, and have looked at this
possibility, but have for the present, deceided to stay with P48, due
to the fact that we in P48 have accurate,dead-nuts on, wheelsets, and
proper scaled down track and turnout components available. here's my
comments that i addressed to the O scale crowd.

"having been an HO'er for years, i think the resistence to change from
kadees is severe, not to mention that i remember that i and all my HO
friends had hundreds of cars and locos. also, being a member of both
Otrains and Oscalemodelers (ha ha), i don't think there will be too
much interest in the sergent couplers if they ever become available.
seems that most on these 2 groups are really dopes when it comes to
accurate anything, including couplers. the comment is that kadees look
much more scale than the big lionel blobs. wonder why that doesn't
carry over to kadees vs san juans or sergents, which are scale E
couplers. i figured that when bobber's groups went to the yahoo police
heaven, the generally toy train comments and threads might go away.
the dumbass "authorities" have reclaimed the space once again. i can't
figure out why the 3-rail brains don't just admit to it and go play
with some tinplate stuff and keep their O scale pearls of wisdom
silent, at least on the 2 rail o scale group sites.

oh well, enuf blowing off steam. i am really hopeful tha sergent will
go ahead and produce their coupler for the O scale market. i just hope
that if frank sergent keeps up with the comments on the mentioned
sites, he won't be turned off to the possibility and production of his
coupler. i have tested the S scale version completely and am more than
convinced that for me, if the O scale version is produced, this will
be the way to go. i have a couple of resons for my decision. first, i
think the operating system is more user friendly than the san juans,
and secondly, i like to rust steel, which isn't too easy when delrin /
engineered plastic is used for parts. yeh i know that the sergent
can't be operated with a cut lever, but a dummy can be installed to
simulate this feature.

have a nice sunday, and we'll see you in chicago in 3 weeks.
