To answer some questions about my northern,
1. It is the AM 4-8-4, AC Hi Rail Santa Fe with locomatic sound.
2. I ordered direct from AM
3.I used a SHS loco coupler with bracket, I had to elongate the screw
holes in bracket to fit.
4. I just hooked up my locomatic controler for first time, whistle is
good, but bell is a bit loud. Steam let off is a bit eratic like other
AM sound units.
5. Chuff very good ,smoke puffs well but have not run at high speed
and I am using included smoke solution, I would like to see more
volume of smoke.
6. Detail is very ood for me but I'm not a rivit counter, and its
running very well on SHS starter track set (small radious) has not
derailed when backing and pushing 6 cars (mix of SHS hoopers,track
clearer box car,desplains coal porter,AM caboose and downs tank car).
&. Have not modified engin other than couplers and have not had any
binding of linkage to tender, but have so far only operated clockwise.
