My Friends in "S", For those of you interested in the 1880s - 1920s of railroading, here is a potentially interesting idea from Barry McClelland of Railway Recollections. Barry is entering the On30 foray with a pair of TOC conversion kits for the IHC HO scale loco chasses. As many of you know, the ratio between narrow gauge and standard gauge is nearly the same as between 1:48 and 1:64 - therefore, with minor detailing changes On3 or On30 items can be readily made into 1:64 items. I'm not sure whether the IHC loco can be reguaged to 1:64 (unless you model in Sn42- GBG!), but maybe, or there might be otehr chasses to work with! The On30 crowd appears to have gotten Barry to consider a domeless boiler casting version so that individual modelers can personalize their locos. In that theme, Barry has offered to do an S-scale version of the cab, IF-IF-IF we can get 30 folks together interested in a TOC cab for $24 (That price is in line with Banta's laser cut wooden cabs). I can think of at least two of my kitbashes that could use this type of cab. If you're iterested in the TOC cab project - send me an e-mail, I'll summarize them and send the results to Barry. BTW, he is considering various options for separate stacks and domes for the naked boiler casting - if you're interested in the boiler casting kit or detail parts, contact Barry directly - I've CCed him above on this msg.
