Well spring time is busy up here in the frozen tundra. As I
mentioned, last weekend, Dave Hamilton and I hosted the NMRA
regional layout tour group. It was a great time for both of us, we
will be at Dave's this week where we will be able to see his Zephyr
in full DCC sound rigging. Dave says he has now knows how to do the
conversion, translating the River Raisin instructions into Minnesota
model railroader language. Kudos to River Raisin for considering
DCC in the first place, for a great power pick up system, for smooth
running and extraordinary attention to detail. Last week, the PPSSW
visited Ben Trusdale's layout. Ben had just put in another diamond
but had not had time to tune it. We could tell it was new because
you could actually hear the wheels going over it. Steve Doyle and I
would like to get some footage of the layouts around here to show at
the NASG National in August. Perhaps a late evening show with a
very drops of Powers to lubercate the conversation? Steve and I
have been giving the hills around Wataga some shape. He is on the
docket for the following Thursday and I expect that these hills will
have their first coat of texture on them and really show off when
the PPSSW guys show up.
Up here in Minnesota, we have enjoyed (?) several weeks of rather
consistant rain. That is great for the grass, trees, flowers and we
expect a bumper crop of mosquitos this year. Ahh, life in paradise.
