Hi Roy; I assume you mean the brown AM dummy couplers with the two piece box? If so, the "Snap-Lock" seems to apply to how they couple. Assembly consists of placing the coupler in the box (with the hole over the pin and the top of the coupler "up") and placing the lid on. Slip the whole box in place and use the mounting screw to hold the box together as well as to the car floor. Alternatively you could try gluing or touching the assembled box with the end of a small soldering iron to seal the parts together.
They will couple by pushing the cars firmly together (but this requires enough force that coupling to a free standing car without hoilding it is unlikely to work). Uncoupling may work with a small pick or screw driver, or lifting the car. They will mate with both Kadee No. 5 and 802 couplers. My apologies if you are talking about something else than the one piece dummies described above.
