A while back I commented on my spring trip to my alma mater, the P&PSSW,
and that whilst there I spent quite a bit of time with Tom Lennon and
Ken Zieska reviewing Tom's stock of decals to see what might be suitable
for relettering SHS, AM, and PRS hoppers to obtain north-central
roadnames that these manufacturers have not (yet) produced.

Tom has now documented in more detail what he has available for these
north-central railroads. He also has many other decals available. See
list at http://www.s-scaletrains.com/milepost169/index.html

Was there ever a pictorial listing of Enhorning decals? I expect that
Tom would greatly appreciate having such a list, it would make it much
easier for us and Tom to identify what we want from his stock.

CN

SH-275 is Canadien National 3 and 4-bay cylindrical hoppers. The PRS
kit will make one style of these, and if the Canadian kit for the true
cylindrical ever comes out, they'll work for it as well. Only 2 sets in
stock.

Burlington Northern

SH-186 Black lettering for grey, 2-bay, cylindrical and PS hoppers.
Just one set left.

SH-274 White lettering for 70 and 100 ton covered hoppers like the
airslides and cylindricals. 3 sets left.

CB&Q

SH-206 is for covered hoppers, painted tuscan red. The lettering is
white, with a black and white herald, and "Every-Where West" in script.
There is a photo on one of the websites for car 180070, a 2-bay with
it's roof removed. The "Burlington Bulletin, No. 20" indicates that the
same scheme was appliedto the first 30 3-bay PS2-CD's received. I have
3 sets left. [According to a member of the Steam Freight e-mail list
"85000-85014 were delivered in box car

red paint with RR Roman lettering and a stenciled herald. I don't know of any
photos." - Ted]

SH-209 contains the red lettering scheme, with a red/black/white
rectangular herald. This scheme was offered by SHS on their 3-bay
cars. I don't know if the AM car is correct, or if it has been
offered. The decals, with appropriate red data sets, could be used for
the 2 and 3-bay cylindricals. Either can be made from the Pacific Rail
kit. I have just 2 sets left.

Milwaukee Road

Set SH-253 will work well on the PS2 from either SHS or AM. I have 4
complete sets, plus I have 10 sets of black roadnames that could be used
to re-decorate a pre-printed car like the M&StL cars. The modeler would
have to re-number it and would have to find an alternative reporting
mark set for the "MILW". Could use black dry transfer letters easily.

NP

Looking at set SH-265 NP covered hoppers, it looks like they'll work for
either 2 or 3-bay PS cars like the SHS version. I have 2 sets complete,
and 7 sets without data suitable for re-lettering the M&StL cars. I
found photos on the Fallen Flags and the Freight Cars site you sent me
earlier. [There is also lettering in this set that looks correct for
the AM covered hopper. - Ted]

SOO LINE

SH-200 that will give you a good start on the 3-bay PS series (75,000
number series?) 5 sets in stock.

SH-249 for the freight car red 2-bay PS cars with white lettering. Just
2 sets available.

SH-250 same as 249 but the grey car with black lettering. 4 sets.

SH317Grey hopper with black lettering. Has the slanted parallelogram
shaped SOO herald. 5 sets.

Regards,
Tom
