John,
Couldn't agree more with your comments about "S" allowing you to
enjoy the hobby again.

SOMETIMES LESS IS MORE.

Besides finding the size (half-way between "O" & "HO") to be ideal, I
too have found CONTENTMENT with not having to deal with limitless
choices, second guessing oneself, etc...

It may be difficult for some to understand, but I too have found it
to be liberating.

make the move to S scale... many of the acquaintances I have in HO
immediately began howling "Why S?!?" "Why S?!?" "Why S?!?" So I
figured I'd better do some real soul-searching and figure out just
why
I did make this choice... The best answer I can give to this question
is that S scale has offered me a chance to start over and enjoy the
hobby again. While in HO, I came to a point of being a "rivet
counter"... In my case, every time a new model came out, I always
found myself asking the same question over and over - "Is this model
a
suitable representation of a prototype equipment owned and operated
by
my favorite, real railroad - I found myself constantly wondering and
worrying if every model I bought was suitable (accurate enough) for
my
collection. This ended up nearly draining the love out of me that I
once had for this hobby... the joy of just watching the trains run.
