hi david, good luck on your search. i have posted a wanted ad for
shinohara "code 70 or hon3 spikes and so far have not found any. they
were imported by lambert associates, now de-funct. they are 3/8" long
and about .024" shank and do NOT split out the holes in the corners of
the grandt-line code 100 tie plates. i would consider the ME small,
but they are too short. the idea is to have them penetrate the tie
into the homasote for real holding power. .109" for S ties plus tie
plates plus rail web thickness makes the ME's too short for my tastes.
