Folks,

I recently bought a Rex mogul kit and now have to see about putting
it together in reasonably good order. The kit comes with assembly
instructions that seem clear enough, expect that it says things like
glue or epoxy the cab to the boiler shell, and the like. As this is
my first attempt at a model of this complexity, I'm a bit at a loss
on basic techniques and materials I should be using -- what type(s)
of epoxy or glue would be appropriate, for example, and why might I
prefer one, or the other, or even low temperature solded, what prep
should I do to get a clean, strong joint -- all those sorts of
things.

I've put together a couple of laser cut wooden structures to date,
and am reasonably satisfied with the result, but a locomotive model
is likely going to call for skills and knowledge I don't yet have.
I'm willing to accept that the skills are only going to develop
through practice, and that means mistakes, but I'd like to at least
see if I can get a bit of book knowledge under my belt before I start
the experience part of the journey. I'd very much appreciate some
suggestions on where I might find instructive web sites, or good
books or articles on the subject.

Regards....

Peter Gagnon
