Roger,  I used typical 12 gauge solid core housewiring for the buss and 
it worked fine for me.  Others have recommended going with stranded 
wire.  I recommend using the new type crimp solderless connectors for 
running the jumpers.  I can't tell you what they really are called.  I 
bought a mess on e-bay for about 4 cents apiece--beats dropping hot 
solder in your lap and they work fine with 12 gauge wire with a smaller 
wire for the jumpers. 
     On the other hand some guys running DCC using these automatic power 
district block devices are saying that the buss really doesn't work as 
you need both wires to go to each power sub-district!
