Hi All,

Another NASG convention has come and gone. Since no one has posted any
photos yet, I guess I will be the first.

In the upper left we have a shot of the back area from the American Models
Tour. Ron Bashista and family were most gracious hosts giving us all dinner
and a tour of the factory at the welcoming party.

Shown in the upper right, we have the truly stunning layout of Brook Stover
modeling the Buffalo Creek & Gauley. It is a 3D work of art, taking code 148
track to the highest level of detail in Hirail! I would have liked to stay
there for more then 15 minutes though. You will get to see this layout if
you go to the NMRA National convention in Detroit next year.

Next we have the DeWitts; Former S Scaler Don (rear) with bother Dale and
father Joel, all who must have made a deal with the devil by trading their
hair for trains. I must have been absent that day because I did not get that
same deal!

In the next photo we have a little Railfanning that I did from right out our
7th story hotel room. There was a yard lead that dead ended just past the
hotel. This GT Geep frequently switched Tri-level auto rack cars deep into
the GM plant that was across the street from the hotel. There was also a
mainline behind the yard lead that got a train or 2 a day.

Next we have the awesome 1 1/2" scale Michigan Central live steam layout
that had over 2 real miles of track spread out over 35 acres owed by 3
families. The ride took us over 1/2 hour before we rode on the same tracks
twice. They run it like a real railroad on select weekends switching out
cars to the many buildings simulating businesses spread out through the
Michigan woods. Former S Scaler and steam engine Guru Joe Scales had some of
his equipment there. I can most definitely see the appeal of the large scale
trains. That tour may have been the highlight of the convention for me. My
wife and I rode for a total of over 2 hours on a perfect August afternoon
and loved every minute of it.

Finally we have Andy Malette (piano) and Dave Heine rocking it out for us
before the banquet. I don't think they played Freebird or Stairway to
Heaven, but we enjoyed it anyway.

The highlight in the vendors room for me was Billy Wade http://www.btsrr.com
formally announcing the PRR ND Cabin car.

We are off to Baltimore next year. http://www.trainweb.org/baafc I have
already made my hotel reservations.

Thank You,
Bill Lane
