The following message comes direct from Jim King in reference to this project :
"The proposed SAL roundroof, single door, 40' boxcar will be produced if there is sufficient interest. At least 75 cars must be reserved, including sales made from NASG Dispatch advertising, etc. The target price is in the low $60s and will include trucks, couplers and decals. Subtract about $7 if you don't want trucks/couplers (decals will still be included). The body will be a 1-piece pressure cast made from industrial (high-heat tolerance) urethane. The underframe will be vacuum cast. Detail parts come from Grandt and Tichy plus our own new injection molded parts (also sold separately). Complete instructions including process photos will accompany each kit. Please email [EMAIL PROTECTED] to place your "no money down" reservation. This is only to tabulate interested buyers." Fellow S scalers, this is GREAT news! Not only has the speculated price come down (from the $70s to the $60s), but the necessary number of pledges has also come down (from 100 to 75)!!! And we also now have the option of getting the model with or without trucks, couplers and decals! How much better could it get? Thanks to everyone who have supported my efforts on this project. Now, I'm taking a long, well-deserved break.... AFTER I increase my order from 5 kits to at least 7!
