What era is the module?

For drawings of the old B&O rolling mill in Cumberland MD, see
http://memory.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query. Do a query for "Cumberland rolling
mill". The rolling mill, torn down in 1981 and now a shopping center, was
used by the B&O to recycle old steel. One of those angular cast iron supports
you'll see at the bottom corners of the transverse section was up on eBay a
short while back as a "garden piece". The transverse section is almost 100'
across and faced the Williams St. yard. The longitudinal section is over 200'
long.

I have a paper catalog from Westport Model Works that shows a lot more than
what is offered at their website Perhaps one of these might be a good standin
for wheel factory.

I have a photo from a Morning Sun book (Chessie color guide, I think) that
shows a huge lot of wheelsets in front of a low profile building. I can scan
and send if desired.

If you are contemplating a modernish building, you might want to consider Rix
Pikestuff products. True, the stuff is HO but S scale doors and windows can
be utilized.

Speaking of Rix Products, I asked Rick Rideout ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) a while
ago if he would consider adding S scale (at least S doors and windows would
be nice) to the Pikestuff line and he said maybe if interest was there. If
anyone is indeed interested, let him know and show him the money. :-)

Subject: Re: Wheel factory in S

Good morning all :)
Need some suggestions for the following.
We want to build a false front structure for one of the modules on our S
train show layout. It will be a rail car wheel factory. We have the
wheelsets and track and can get photographs of a local factory we can use
as our prototype.
What I am hoping for is either (1) a kit, either wood or cardstock of the
false front building that would sort of resemble this single story, long
structure or (2) plans in any scale that we can enlarge or reduce to build
from scratch.
If anyone has any suggestions it would be appreciated.
Cheers :)
