Well, can't speak for everybody, but for me: Yup, that's what is has come
to. Why?

Easy: I can get acceptable results quickly and cheaply.

I no longer have the time to devote to hard core modeling. Yes, I want SOME
modeling, but I want to "chose my wars". At this point, I'd rather put my
efforts into my motive power.

The other reason is $$$. Take this fool window in my room, for example.
When doing O 3R, I needed a very large flat to cover it up. I priced doing
it using DPM O scale wall modules. The pieces alone added up to nearly $400
worth of plastic. And that was only ONE large flat on ONE small segment of
ONE wall. All totaled I have about THIRTY FEET of walls to cover with
industrial flats. The costs of using conventional flats were absolutely
through the roof.

So, I developed my photoflat idea and figure I can get acceptible results
quicker this way, and IF the time comes that I want to replace them with
conventional model flats, I can do so at my leisure.

In my case, it is indeed.

Now, off to Mainline Modeler to purchase those issues Pieter's post reminded
me about...
