and he notes - There are still active SD9s listed on these two sites:
http://www.trainweb.org/potb/index.html http://www.greatnorthernempire.net/index2.htm?GNEStillActiveDiesel_FreightUnits.htm There are at least two SD7s still active on the GN site. Although there are no SD9s listed, this site does have interesting data on the locos they lease: http://www.montanarail.com/leasing/leasing.htm A number of obsolete locomotives have found a home as leased power and short lines. The New Hampshire Northern still operates GP9s in B&M colors (blue) although they came from the IC. They also run leased GP35s. Perhaps the oldest leased locos are the ALCO High Hoods: http://yardlimit.railfan.net/alco/existing/index.html One more site where photos of leased power can be found: http://www.railpictures.net/showphotos.php?railroad=Locomotive%20Leasing%20Partners%20(LLPX) One might think of Gen. MacArthur's quip (paraphrased): "Old Locos never die - they just keep running on short lines!"... Raleigh in Maine waiting for the rain!
