Hi gang:

I am in the process of scratchbuilding a 150-ton mainline concrete
coaling plant in S scale. Several of these prototypes stood (and
many still stand) on the CNR mainline in Northern Ontario. The
wrinkle which may be of interest to other S scalers is that I am
making this a "virtual" modeling project. Construction steps and
illustrations are being posted on my web log at:

http://www.canadianbranchline.com/weblog.htm

There are at least six other fellows who are building along with me,
in various scales.

In my case, the coaling plant will be incorporated into a module
representing the CNR junction at Washago, Ontario. It just so
happens that in June 1954, CNR Pacific 5582 passed by this coaling
plant on a daily basis with three passenger cars on her thrice-
weekly trips to and from cottage country. An excellent S scale
length train! All this is documented in my new book entitled "Steam
in Northern Ontario". Of course, it doesn't hurt either that I just
purchased one of Andy Malette's CNR K-3 Pacific kits to replicate
the 5582...
