Just a short report from Minnesota. The weather is still nice out
so there isn't much excuse to hide in the basement.
Last Thursday, we finally coordinated with Steve Doyle's travel
schedule and visited his layout. I arrived early and helped Steve
stage lots of projects and the guys jumped right in and worked like
crazy all night. You can tell a great work evening when the host
spends all of his time running from project to project with tools
supplies and advice where questions are asked. We call it the "Host
Hustle" and Steve was really hustling.

The evening became very somber when Dave Jasper arrived and told us
that Tom Lennon had suffered a heart attack and was resting
comfortably in the hospital. Many of you know Tom and know that he
is far too young for a heart attack. I talked to Tom today, he is
feeling fine and expects to be back home this afternoon with two new
stents (?), a new diet, new excercise plan and a plan to quit
smoking. The biggest dissapointment is that his doctor says he
cannot go to the S Fest 8-(. That is a severe dissapointment to all
of us in the PPSSW, I offered to write a note to the doctor saying
he would be riding both ways, no driving. He would be at our table
with a nice chair, no roaming the floor to buy things and we would
enforce an afternoon nap. Tom would not be allowed a Powers or
cigars laate in the evening and he would go to bed early, no BS
session..... it was at this point that Tom said enough. It would be
more torture to go under these conditions than stay home.

Most folks know Steve Doyle and that he makes videos (no Jamie, not
that kind). He is working on the script for the Pines and Praires
Heart Health excercise video. I don't know a great deal about it
but it seems complete. First of all Steve requires cordless
throttles and a walk around layout design. I am keeping an open
mind but Steve suggests that I can be one of the demonstrators. I
will wear an NP Lowey design excercise outfit light green tights, a
darker green top and a white belt. As the train goes around the
layout, I will excercise to the music provided. Steve has a nice
selection, Chatanogga Choo Choo, City of New Orleans but he is a bit
off the wall with a disco mix of She'll be comin' around the
mountian". I will wear a little heartbeat monitor and when I get my
heartbeat up to the target, I will get to blow the whistle on my SHS
Tsanami 2-8-0. When I reach the end of the workout, I stop
celebrate again with the steam blow down sound on the engine.

Please keep Tom in your thoughts and prayers.

Best wishes,

Ken Zieska
