Walthers did an HO transfer table (933-3131) in the late 90's.  It was
motorized, measured about 12"x12" and also had an extension available.
Perhaps it could be modified.  Discontinued but still pops up on Ebay or at
flea markets.

I seem to recall the drive was not very good - gears were prone to slips and
strips.
