The biggest news is that Dave Jasper has completed the purchase of
the land that will house his new layout and MRIM. We will be having
a ground breaking at Dave's in two weeks. Dave is planning shovels
but if the frost is too deep, we will have to use the bobcat.
Dave and I made the trip to the S Fest but rather than display my
typical lack of attention to detail, I will let someone else make a
report. I saw many wonderful friends and made some new friends.
Dave and I were in awe of the amount of flyer stuff (and cash)that
changes hands at the Fest. The AF guys are pretty focused. That is
not a negative, on the scale side we have SPF's which seems to be
pretty much the same sort of deal.
Tom Lennon didn't make the trip, neither did Steve Doyle. Perhaps
Steve not being there was the reason for the poor sales of scale
equipment. Tom asked us to look for Tom Bodlt, on Friday we found
Will Holt he clearly didn't understand the message from Tom. On
Saturday, I talked to Tom of Tom's Turnouts, he is Tom Stoltz and he
did not want Tom's message. Anyway think about it, Tom Boldt, Will
Holt, Tom Stoltz. pretty spooky isn't it.
I didn't see any of the new Arista figures at the show but the photo
in the S Gaugian showed that at least one of these was boarderline
naughty. Be careful guys, don't give into the dark side. Put too
many of these on you layout and your eyesight might go. By the way,
I was only looking for them so I could confirm my outrage.
Have a great week, I need to head to the basement and get a fix of S
Scale trains.
