I emailed Keith Wiseman to ask if he planned to release again the V&T
Shops S standard gauge SP 40- and 50-foot flat car kits, because I
didn't see them mentioned on his Web site
<http://www.locopainter.com/>.

He promptly replied "Yes," but he is awaiting some molds and masters
from the Darney family. He also wrote, "If you have any unbuilt kits
let me know as they may be a source for new masters for me if the
Family can not find the needed masters or molds."

I myself don't have any unbuilt kits, so I can't help Keith Wiseman
on this issue. Instead, I have several built-up 40- and 50-foot flat
cars, and I am pleased with the results. (However, I do know of one
modeler who said that his flat car warped over time.) Gratuitous
modeling notes: (1) on the first kit I installed the brake rigging;
when I realized I couldn't see it when the car was on the track, I
saved a LOT of time by skipping this detail on subsequent cars; (2) I
got SP decals from Lee Johnson, though I do not know if he has any
left.
