This is for the newbes in S who have not started building their layouts yet
and are interested as what modern cars might fit reasinable well on a small
radius curved layout. The really best source of what will run on what curve
is the NMRA Data sheet

This is NOT a full proof deal, but I am running the following types of cars
on a 27" starter oval from American "S" Gauge. No it is not scale track at
code .172 but a 27" radius is a 27" radius, scale or not. All cars have
Kadee 802 body mount couplers.

The following "modern" cars seems to make it around the oval with no
problems of de-railing:
1. American Models 3-Bay PS-2 covered hopper
2. Des Plaines Hobbies new double stack car
3. SHS bulkhead flat car
4. An American Models Observation car brings up the rear.

There are other cars in the train I run, but they no longer available thru
normal buying channels such as a Pacific Rail Shops ACF 4650 3 Bay covered
hopper (only 4 road names are listed in the 2005-2006 Scenery Unlimited
catalog) and a Downes 20,000 gallon Hudson's Bay Oil and Gas tanker (do not
know if Manheim Machine & Tool (the new owner of the Downes designes) is
still in business).
