John Deere still does some major promotions. I had a pair of gals on my shuttle van to PHX that were on their way to the midwest to "detail" brand new equipment for show. Apparently they made good money at it...

However, during my youth the local John Deere dealer along with the national marketing people would sponsor "John Deere Days"--it was a big deal in a small town. Of course all the new equipment, was shown but there was a county fair/carnival atmosphere and normally they did show a movie at the local theatre. I would be that it was made for that event.
