My wife's told me I'm a grumpy old model railroader so take this post 
with a grain of salt.  We pay great attention to whether or not our 
models had K brakes or AB brakes, whether or not they are properly 
weathered or not, right kind of handbrake, Murphy roof etc. etc.  But 
we got to get the lettering (decals) on perfectly.  In pictures and 
videos I've seen the green part of a Canadian National herald missing 
with the white part completly intact.  I've seen a Southern Railway 
herald with the middle third missing and the outside thirds there.  
Some cars are almost impossible to read.
  Perhaps a broken decal can be very prototypical!  My wife just told 
me to get off the computer and back down in the basement.  With tongue 
in cheek.
