To: Bill, Dave & list:

Bill, with all due respect to you and Stan, I am not sure you need to
be a craftsman to consistently build high quality switches with the
fast track tools. In fact that is the point of these excellent
tools - to permit guys like me with five thumbs to produce excellent
work on a consistent basis.

Though I have not had the pleasure of seeing Stan's work, I have no
doubt he is much more of a craftsman than I am. In fact, even though
I have built many switches, it was the lack of consistency in my work
that caused me to seek a better solution for manufacturing turnouts.
Thanks to these wonderful tools, I would say the quality of my
switches has improved 100%.

Dave, the point of the jig is to consistently produce a high quality
standardized turnout. If you need a standard number X turnout, the
jig will cause you to cookie cut as many as you need or want. If you
require a non-standard turnout, the track jig will not help (though
the frog/point jig can still be used).

For those of you from Missouri, you will just have to go to Ed L's to
see the double slip switch on his layout, or come to Rocklin to see
what I have done. <VBG>

OK, I have posted enough on this topic - I "R" done.
