Thank you Peter Loeb.  Your posting was copied into a file for future 
modeling reference.  I remember old concrete structures where the age 
stained cement matrix had eroded away, exposing the sand and gravel 
aggregate.  Old sidewalks seem to be tinted by the color of the sand 
used in the concrete.  Also, Beloit Wisconsin once had an old concrete 
paved highway through town where the top surface of the concrete and 
aggegate as well were worn away, probably by studded snow tires.  This 
was in the late 60's.  It was like terrazo and the aggregate must have 
been glacial till screenings, because the gravel was variety of 
colors.  An amazing sight.
