Hi all,
SIG stands for Special Interest Group. The Special Interest here is S scale
railroading, modeling using among other things the NMRA/NASG standards wheel
standards as it better represent the prototypes. It re-group folks with the
same interest.
I belongs to the CN lines SIG, the fact that it exists, doesn't mean it denies
the PRR or NYC, but it re-group peoples like me who have a special interest in
the CN lines where we can share CN related information from history to the type
of air-pump a H6 ten-wheeler has.
So I am not sure I understand the feelings some folks has because there special
interest is modeling with less restrictions on their model trains. Everyone of
us enjoy the hobby within there special or "broad" interest otherwise we would
have no fun. I would have no or less fun to model in HO instead of S or
research PRR historical information instead of CN or building a steam
locomotive with large flange drivers and generic looking instead of a best
possible replica.
On the other hand some folks, they would have no fun if they had to worry about
all of this to run their trains and there is nothing wrong with that like there
is nothing wrong with my own interets either.
Simon
