Folks....Actually, it is even better than what Bob described above.
Even if your club is not 100% NMRA, you can still piggyback on the
NMRA train show insurance policy for darn near free. In the San
Francisco area, this is accomplished by titling the event using the
NMRA and PCR(region) in the title/name of the event. Thus, instead
of calling something the "S Scale Train Show" it is instead named
the "NMRA/PCR S Scale Train Show" and is considered an NMRA-sponsored
event and is covered by the NMRA's blanket insurance policy. In
order to do this, close cooperation and coordination with the local
regional officers is required. But we have been doing this for
several years out here for the so-called "NMRA/PCR LDSig/OpSig
Conference" which is little more than a bunch of local guys, some of
whom belong to the NMRA, getting together for a long weekend of train
fun. Layout visit hosts are covered by the insurance as well as all
on-site activities. Great way to reduce costs. Another good reason
for outwardly treating the NMRA like a friend even though your inner
psyche might feel otherwise. NASG, to the best of my knowledge, has
no equivalent benefit. Cheers...Ed L.
