My wife and I actually looked into getting a caboose to use as a
cottage type building on our property in the wilds of Michigan.  This
was when the railroads were practically giving them away.  It was the
transportation to the land that was the real expensive part.  Then you
have the load restrictions placed on dirt roads, local ordinances,
etc.  It would have been cool, though.
