Thought you guys would like to see that even the HO-HO- builders are having
trouble. Mark Malmkar is interested in S, but has not worked on the corrugated
sides idea for awhile for obvious reasons. DJE

Subject: [PCL] manufacturing detail parts
Hello pcl list;
As a manufacturer of parts I couldn't resist chiming in here. One
other thing to add to the dilemma of selling individual parts is the
cost of tooling. It takes about as much effort, time and capital to
tool up for A/C parts production as, say, a pair of car sides. Now
customers may be willing to hand over $25 for a pair of sides for
their "City of Priority" lounge car, but will they do that for a two
piece air conditioner that will hide under the skirts.
Many of you will, and I appreciate your business. But as an
earlier poster said, "things are different than they were pre-1996."
Prior to 2000 most of you would be happy to purchase 5 or 6 baggies of
different parts at #4.95 each. Now the market is into sending $30 to
China for an RTR car that looks terrific. No glue required.
Now, for you fellas that wish to modify those ready to run cars --
I am still on the web. And I'm going to keep making new parts, even if
it is only one product at a time.
Mark M.
