We've finally wrapped up the new, S-scale Aladdin General Store kit and it's now shipping. Many, many thanks go to Doug Jolley for bringing the structure to our attention and sharing his information. The building has a great amount of character and is pure "Americana". It'll fit any layout, be it east, west, north or south, turn-of-the-century or present day. If you haven't taken a look at Doug's model, the 2-story store (store/gas station/bar/post office) has a very rural feel to it, with a long covered front porch, 5 additions, and 2 outhouses. Interestingly, it also served as a depot and freight station at one time.
As with all our kits, the instruction manual (spiral-bound) is very thorough and includes 55 photos of the assembly. The kit comes complete with door knobs, lock plates, our peel-and-stick roofing, and a bunch of advertising signs and decals. Both the roof and 2nd floor are removable, allowing for an interior to be added at any time. Pat Turner has worked up a special set of 32 detail castings for the kit that are available separately either from us or Turner Model Works (www.turnermodelworks.com <http://www.turnermodelworks.com/> ). The kit sells for $145, postpaid in the US and Canada, and the special set of optional detail castings is $30. (Pat tells me he will have the sets to me by Friday.) For more info and pictures of the completed kit, please stop by our website (www.raggstoriches.biz <http://www.raggstoriches.biz/> ) and click on the photo for a link to the Aladdin page.
