Hey Andre,

Funny you should bring this up. I recall a conversation with my
dad about 29 years ago, before I went to work for the RR. He said that
model railroading will be different after you work for the RR for a while.
Dang, how right he was. I don't know how long you've been railroading but
April will mark the start of the 29th year as a rail for me. After a day of
work, sitting at the computer surfing is how I unwind. After looking at the
end of a car or another engine all day, coming home and assembling a car or
anything just isn't what I want to do. I enjoy talking about my experiences
and reading old Model Railroader magazines but settling down to model just
doesn't happen. I find most of my modeling now gets done while I'm on
vacation. Wouldn't call it a busman's holiday because what I'm doing is
totally removed from work. It's more like a work of art, creation of
something from what I remember 30 - 40 years ago. I missed steam but I sure
got to watch F units, Alco switchers working and seeing the U25b's when they
were new. Cabooses brought up the rear of trains. So your projects will
gather dust but some day the urge to pick one up and work on it will come
around. How do I know, been there and done that. Would you like to see the
T shirt and coffee cup? VBG In the mean time don't walk away from the
hobby.

Cheers,

Greg
