Bill:

Minimum radius on the mainline is 45" and I have followed NMRA's 
suggested side clearances for a UP Big Boy, so I would hope that an 
EM-1 would negotiate the mainline with no trouble.

I would love to see doubleheaded EM-1's run on the layout.  I 
mentioned to Don that I am thinking about having my layout open 
sometime during the convention for those desiring a longer visit than 
the Friday night bus tours will allow.  I am also trying to 
coordinate with Sam to see if he would like to have an open house at 
the same time.  More on this as the convention approaches.
