Greetings from the beautiful southeast. I just love checking this
list out now and again, OK so I don't always get the compete picture
but that shouldn't stop me from posting my opinion anyway.
Jim Kindraka, I love your candor and I believe that this candor is
part of the strength of River Raisin. Recall that the Zephyr had
been "announced" twice in S and failed. River Raisin announced the
project and it went. Was the market different? Perhaps. I actually
thing many people just knew that not only would it be done but that
it would be done to the highest standards. The results speak for
themselves, the same as thier projects always have. These folks are
also responsive to the market. For years, brass came in without all
wheel pickup, I understand in HO they do that because much of it is
not run and perhaps in S it was because there were so few operating S
Scale layout but when the operators asked, River Raisin delivered.
Oh yes, once we pay a deposit, you are never risking any of your
money anymore are you?????? Reality check time folks, we consumers
don't always know the time line of the funds and the cost of the
research that is done years in advance.
I have felt responsible for "pressuring" for a few projects and I
always feel guilty if I actually see the project get started. I have
learned my lesson and I am staying quiet. By the way Jim and Dan, I
will be taking a series of detail close ups of the DM&IR
Yellowstone. Any views you might need?
Bob Nicholson! What a hoot, I wonder how many people on this list
really got your joke. The old timers who remember that project are a
small minority now. Anyone see the guy who used to be in Des
Moines? He had about 10 of the J & L cars. He inspired me and at
one time I had over 12 of the Airslide cars River Raisin did years
ago.
Now I collect other things, I believe I have about twenty cases of S
Scale hidden under the layout. The PPSSW guys know about it so if I
die, it gets taken care of. Marilyn doesn't know, if she did, the
PPSSW guys might have to get to work eariler than I intend.
Always taking myself as serious as I deserve to be taken.
