I have been beating the bushes for years trying to persuade a manufacturer
to offer an auto carrier, but the open, older version.

A few people have told me that covered or uncovered it would not be all that
expensive actually. The car is basically just an ordinary flat with pretty
simple super structure. Well, in brass ANYTHING is expensive, to me at
least, so if brass is all that some would consider, then it is out of my
price range anyway.

But seems to me that SHS and AM have both made some pretty darn good plastic
and metal versions of rolling stock.

Personally I would welcome an auto carrier made out of any material, so long
as it looked good.

BTW, I have scoured the 'net and found precious few prototype photos of both
covered and open auto carriers. There are some images out there, but I have
not yet found any drawings. Somebody, somewhere has some I' m sure.

I talked to one of the less well known brass importers about such a car, and
he said it was not impossible, and he told me to find him drawings, factory
drawings, not model RR magazine drawings. I haven't done anything about it
yet. These cars would be expensive.

And once again, don't forget BTS. They have mentioned the possibility of a
kit for the superstructure that would go on their 89 ft car to make an auto
rack (that's how the real ones are made).
