Bud,

I believe SP referred to their 2-10-2's Decapods. The common "name"
designation for steam locomotives wasn't written in stone. After
all, the NYC refreed to Mountains as Mowhawks and Northerns as
Niagra's. Plus, the Milwaukee called their 4-6-4's Baltics.

There was also a time when some railroads Mikado's were referred to
as Mac Arthurs.

I'll admit though, when I saw the wore "Decapod," my heart skipped a
beat. Even though I knew better, I was hoping to see Russian
Decapods under the headline....

Russian Decapod... Arr, that'd be nice.

Making a great deal out of very little for the better half of a
century.
