The NYC always wanted the best.  Their track pans were lined with 
Teflon.   The B & O used Syracuse China but no historical decorations.

Did they treat the water pumped into the track pans?

I got "rained on" the first time I saw a track pan.  When I was young.  
My dad knew what they were but said nothing. He was from Rome NY.  It 
was some where in that area of upstate NY.
