This has been posted before but, in light of the recent discussion regarding
rail sizes, I thought it might be useful again. Someplace I saw a list of
common rail weights for various uses - yard, mainline, etc. Can anyone provide
this again?

SCALE RAIL SIZES

A question that seems to come up now and again is what size rail does "code xx"
equate to in the prototype? I took the data from the 1939 American Railway
Engineering Association standards for rail sizes and converted it to the
equivalent scale sizes

prototype prototype S-scale
weight height height
90# 5 5/8 0.088
100# 6 0.094
110# 6 1/4 0.098
120# 6 1/2 0.102
