Hi Colin,

I've been working on a GP50 kitbash for a little while using a GP35
and SD60 shell. When I started, I simply cut through both models,
joined them together and started to correct issues. The biggest
problem was getting the walkways to match since the hood heights
between the two models is different. The walkways are different
styles as well so the SD60 end needs additional material. I also
needed to swap the GP35 pilot and steps onto the SD60 end. In
hindsight, rather than just cutting through the shells, I should have
removed the SD60 hood and attached it to a stretched GP35 shell. In
addition, the shells are also different thicknesses which makes
reinforcing the splices a challenge.

You will also need to change the fan and sides of the dynamic brakes
as well as the filter screens, exhaust, and numerous other pieces.
Don't forget that you need to fabricate a longer frame, fuel tank and
air tanks. Since I'm a glutton for punishment, mine's a high hood
version for Norfolk Southern. But then again, that's the fun of
kitbashing. I posted an image of the progress so far in the "GP50
kitbash" folder along with the prototype.

Regards,
Gary
