AS the ORIGINAL inventor, manufacturer and seller of the "LOEB INVESTMENTS" S 
Coupler Height Gage, the first and only, S specific designed magnetic coupler 
height and trip pin clearance gage, the (now NASG) gage will work on any S 
track regardless of type or rail size. 

It was originally designed by me to provide the correct coupler mounting 
height, the correct trip pin clearance height from top of rail and magnetic 
uncoupler pad, and as  guide to the bottom of car body/coupler draftgear box 
mounting pad height. The LOEB INVESTMENTS S Coupler Height Gage was designed 
for the, modified for S with a longer trip pin, HO # 5 Kadee coupler and was 
deisgned with tolerances to accomodate NMRA, original 7/8" and, at the time, 
new proposed NASG S track gauge standards. It was made of cast colored plastic 
(variuos colors) to allow for use on powered track. Therefore it will work on 
any S standard gauge track whether high rail, AF or scale sized rail. 

Now for a little background: The original LOEB INVESTMENTS S Coupler Height 
Gage was completely invented, designed, engineered, manufactured, advertised in 
the S Gauge Herald and S Gaugian, and sold nationally and internationaly by me. 
Jack Troxell provided invaluable technical/engineering assistance and expert 
machining of the brass master patern for the original. Several RTV molds were 
made by vacuum casting from original brass master and then colored plastic was 
cast in the RTV molds under vacuum to create the finished plastic gage, then a 
modified #5 coupler was added and gages were packaged for retail sales.  BY the 
way, in 1973 Kieth and Dale Edwards (KADEE) threatened me, in person, with 
massive law suits for (non existant) patent infringements to thier coupler 
designs, when I visited them, trying to get them to mass produce an exact S 
scale coupler.

I am the origintor of the gage that after several consequent other owners, 
manufacturers and design changes is now being offered by the NASG. I sold the 
LOEB INVESTMENTS line of products, including the famous three point cast brass 
precision machined S and Sn3 track gages, and the LOEB S Coupler Height Gage, 
some years ago. I have been told American Models updated the NASG (LOEB) 
coupler height gage to take the KADEE 802 modified for S, On3 coupler. In 
addition the NASG placed raised NASG letters on the top of the coupler trip pin 
height gage surface (defeating the purpose of precise trip pin height 
adjustment). I do not know who actually is manufcturing the gage now, but I 
have and use the one sold by the NASG.
