Hi,
Tsk! Tsk! The misconceptions on the Hershey Foods moving its chocolate
operation to Mexico.
Folks, Hershey is building a chocolate plant in Mexico to enable them to better
sell their wares to Central and South America.
Do you know they are also spending millions of dollars in extending and
building a new plant in Virginia?
Do you know that we have a practically new plant right here in Hershey called
Hershey West. Every time I drive by that plant I swear that it is getting
larger. Don't know how they accomplish that!
But what excites me most is that I would love to do on my layout what they do,
move cocoa beans, chocolate syrup and chocolate back and forth between the old
plant and the new one. Roughly about a mile and a half!
I already have the the original Chocolate plant on the layout, but need to find
an area to build Chocolate West.
Then I could set up a cut of covered hoppers, tankers (and one caboose) to
haul the material to the West plant. Then after it is processed there (with the
most modern equipment, I might add.) Pick up the finished cut and take it back
to the old plant where they make it into the candy that you and I enjoy sooooo
much!
Ahhhh, just sitting here at my computer this morning, with the clouds hanging
low over our chocolate town, meaning, the aroma of cocoa and roasted peanuts is
filling the air!
Love and Chocolate covered Kisses to you all!
Billy Fraley
