Mike et al --

I agree with you. What I know about the Omnicon P70 is that the master was
being cut as a 1/32nd scale item from which the tooling was to have been made
with a 3-D pantograph. I think the roof master was finished at the time
Charlie Sandersfeld got sick. But I never saw the stuff -- I only heard about
it from Charlie himself, who visited the N&W&B (my home layout) years ago.

I think the best way to get, say, a P70 would be to approach a manufacturer
who's looking for his next best-selling project. I don't think it's SHS
because Don T. has too many committed items backed up in his pipeline. Perhaps
Smoky Mountain (Jim King) or Kaslo Shops (John Whitmore) would be better bets.
And given the fact that several years ago AM's Ron Bashista was willing to do
an entire Cal Zephyr train (including tooling for three new cars) if he
received 100 orders, maybe it's time to ask him. Keep in mind that each of
these guys should be asked how many cars would have to be committed/pre-sold in
order to get their interest.

Would like to join the group by questioning anyone who has information
regarding the status of a once proposed (by the late Charlie
Sandersfield) PRR P70? That kit or R-T-R project was to have been on
the cusp of being ready for production back in the mid to late 80's.
Is there anyone that may have updated news regarding that specific
project or the resurrection of that idea? And what about the latest
news of any additional proposal to add another piece of R-T-R
passenger equipment to the line of 80 ft. scale length AM Pullmans we
already have? Is there a need to inject or introduce new passenger
components and/or equipment into the mix of what we have? Let's face
it, as much as some of us would like to spend time building up the old
Train Stuff P70's for example, I for one would like to see some
state-of-the-art R-T-R new full scale equipment in the passenger realm
of things. Regards, Mike B.
