Several of you have posted the projects you've been working on and I enjoy
hearing and seeing them. Last fall I begin listing all of my "almost done"
projects (a long list!) and trying to finally complete a few. Many were paint
and lettering, but I thought I would share one very simple one in brass... I
posted it in the photo section under "Kindraka".

Prototype background: When the NYC initiated their steel bay window cabooses,
the first order, Lot 778 (1948) was for three prototypes, #20200 - 20202.
These cabooses had a small window over the conductor's desk. When the rest of
the 300 cabooses were built, lot's 782 & 827 (1949 - 52), the "conductor's
window" was eliminated. I guess they figured the conductor needed to keep his
head down on paperwork and not look out!!

The 1992 RRM brass import was of lots 782 & 827. I always intended to modify
one to the original version, figured it might be unique as not a lot of folks
will take a drill, nibbling tool and torch to a brass model. I'm pleased with
the result, even if it did take 15 years! BTW, I can take no credit for the
painting, lettering or photo, it is the excellent work of a friend in Michigan.
