First off, I apologize to the group for the way this process was handled. We
as moderators did not handle this correctly.
I would ask that any further comments on how the list should be set up, or any
other discussion about list issues be sent directly to the moderators at
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> so the list is not cluttered up further with messages most
would care not to see.
A brief history lesson. Originally, the group's response was set to Reply to
the group. Sometime within the past five years the group had a major problem
with private responses being sent to the group rather than to individuals. At
the same time, we had quite a few personal attacks on individual members sent
to the group. A poll was set up, and a majority voted to change the settings
to have the Reply go to the individual. About this time, I became a moderator,
and in discussions with the other moderators was told that this change greatly
reduced the moderator headaches - the off topic e-mails were generally going to
the sender of the original e-mails, and the vicious attacks were also going
offlist (not fun for the receiver, but the list did not have to deal with
them). I admit it is a pain to have to double-check the address in the Send
To, but I try to do that for all e-mails so I'm sure only the intended
recipient receives the e-mail. If you have problems sending e-mails, feel free
to ask on list, mentioning what you use to send e-mails, and you will get lots
of help, hopefully offlist.
I do thank those of you who kept us on "topic" through this - Tom and Bob for
posting photos, Don for updating us with product, and those others I'm missing
(I'm still wading through e-mails after a very long weekend with work and kid
activities).
