Greeting Vivamus, Without going into a dissertation here, yes, S-gauge (not scale) IS growing, but at a snails pace. Fortunately with the `significant' increased quality of rolling stock (i.e. SHS and others) there IS an increasing number of AF train operators with scale-(ish) scenery who are rapidly (as fast as a snail can run) joining the ranks of scale- ism. Unfortunately, due to the individual fiefdoms' of gauge and scale vs. non-scale despite AND the extensive efforts of many, there is, and may always remain, a significant disconnect.
As for news content, we have consistently published much more S-scale news than articles & advertising in the '1:64 Modeling Guide'. Unfortunately, we have not been dependable in publishing the magazine in a timely fashion, thus the lack of 1:64MG being mentioned in this discussion. Mea culpa. Additionally, my not being a 'model RR-er' per se also has been a determent to the success of this 'scale' publication. Debbie & I have repeatedly asked for help and along with continued contributions of the faithful few (thank you Dick Karnes, Billy Wade, Pat Turner, Geoff Graber and others) it has just not been enough to propel this scale publication into the successful realm. And yes, there have been a few who have replied to the Editor's position from our web posting and some of those talks continue, however, the contribution and retribution for this effort are at opposite ends of the spectrum. I had hoped that when we originally purchased the `S/Sn3 Modeling Guide' in 2002 that I would be able to maintain an editorial and printing consistency AND manage my Rheumatoid Arthritis AND our Doctor Ben's. The sad news is that I am not able to manage all three one of them has to go. Debbie and I have discussed this at great lengths and it is with great reluctance that we begin the arduous process of finding a new owner for the magazine. I would like to remain a contributor and supporter to that magazine as Billy has done with us. So, if you or anyone reading this posting knows of a potential buyer (we do accept credit cards) please have them contact us for the details and perhaps we can bring this magazine into the successful realm it deserves.
