I'm trying to persuade the authorities in my S gauge club to schedule a
meeting that would involve a visit to a not-to-far Sn3 layout, but the idea
does not catch on.

Here in "Railroad Heaven" (Strasburg-Lancaster County area) visitations are
not hard to arrange or sights hard to find. Time is our biggest enemy. I try
to schedule during the "off" period, Jan thru March, however, most of our
members are also active TCA museum volunteers and this is NTTM shut-down/fix-up
time. Sunday afternoons, some evenings, etc. Also try to make it family
affair, with dinner on the way home or on the way too, or whatever we can
arrange.
We haven't gone anywhere yet that a spouse couldn't go also. Longest drive is
usally an hour, altho we will have a 2 hour jaunt next Christmas season.
