From the layout construction group use 3/4" plywood, make the first
riser 1 foot away and you will automatically have the transition you
need. The plywood is stiff enough to take care of the transition over
the distance. Don't have my calulator handy but 4% should be roughly
a little less than 1/2 " in 12" I believe. (1/2" in 12 and 1/2")
