EARL:
I've successfully done a lot of ink jet decal-making. Here's my experience.
First, all my decals have been made in color on, obviously, a color ink jet. I
had a Canon and hated it. I now have an HP and love it. I've only used
Micro-Mark decal paper, and I find it totally satisfactory. Since you're in TN
(90% humidity) and I'm in AZ (15% humidity) our drying experiences are probably
quite different. I usually give mine about two hours to set and dry. No
problem. I don't know anything about Testor's Decal Bonder, but I think I'll
look for some. Instead of the Testor's, I put on three light coats of clear
Krylon. I've had only minor "bleeding" problems. Another little trick is to use
Future Floor Wax as your on-model float-coat once the decal has been freed from
the backing with water. Future also makes a nice face coat in lieu of setting
solution.

Subject: {S-Scale List} Printing decals on Walthers Decal Paper with Ink Jet
Printer ?

I am going to try to apply some of my own decals using Walthers Decal Paper.

I have printed black lettering on a sheet of the decal paper using an ink
jet printer. I am going to let this dry at least overnight, maybe longer. The
ink looks wet on the paper. I guess it makes sense that this paper is not
absorbent, instead it keeps the ink on the very surface of the paper so it
can
  be transferred to the model.

These decals are for letterboards and passenger car names on an undecorated
  Budd car from American Models.

My intent is to spray Testors Decal Bonder over the decal paper. possibly
several times, after the ink has had time to dry. Then after this dries
again,
I will try to apply the decals to the passenger car sides.

If you have had experience doing this, maybe you can tell me whether I am
going about this the right way, and/or give me some tips.

I know Wayne Beachy has done this successfully on American Flyer cars. He
sent me a WORD document with the lettering he used for Southern cars. This
was a couple of years ago or earlier. I used the copy of his file to print my
decals, although the car names I am using are names of family members. I
want to apply 4 different names on 2 sets of 4 cars, or a total of 8 names.
