Here is latest from the Council Bluffs daily news ( and it is certainly
late):

Business news is certainly grand in our fair city. The city fathers
have made several improvements to the city's roads and sewers. They are
now separate! The city council is also considering an ordinance that
forbids the grazing of cattle and swine in front yards. Chickens and
other foul are still allowed and of course, horses are fine.
Furthermore rail transport is starting to return to normal as the GPNTRR
joint combined passenger train called The City of No Where as again
started regular service to points West. The passenger depot is not
entirely open but passengers are making due! Some freights to the East
are starting to ship grain and receive lumber and spirits in return!

Much of this progress is due to the continuing effort of the contractors
and employee's of the railroad. Photographer, B.E. Werre and his trusty
dog, Tripod were able to secure a viewing room in the Park Hotel to do a
historical record this past Sunday. Most of Miss Bieber's "good time
girls" were sunning themselves on the roof which even made for a better
view (those views are available in stereo viewers in the hotel lobby for
6 cents each)!

It is duly noted that the Klingman boys, that rowdy bunch from Dakota,
have finished planking the roof and have applied a coat of roofing tar.
Next Bill Melhoff (the wood butcher) and his brothers will return and do
the trim, eves and windows. One of the suppliers has failed in getting
enough hinges for the doors, which if not corrected will slow further
progress. However, roofing material arrived and is now stockpiled for
use.

Hotel for those 'special' 6 cent views!
